Folding kayaks - faltboats
Folding kayaks - faltboats have little to do with inflatable boats (ie inflatable kayaks) and they can also be folded. While inflatable kayaks are simply stiffened by blowing air into them and are considered the cheapest kayaks, faltboats (foalding kayaks in English) have always been the oldest and most expensive kayaks in the world. These had a detachable, stiffening frame. During my wanderings in British Columbia, I saw one of the oldest kayaks in the world in Vancouver. It was once manufactured by Eskimos. It was still made of sewn sealskin and a wooden frame. He was amazed at how similar its shape was to a modern-day faltboat! Only today's ones are made of t7000s aluminum frame and a special, slightly stretchy polyurethane cover (e.g. Tarpulin). Today's modern Folding Kayaks - faltboats can be assembled in 20 minutes. What's the point of it all? More sensitive than a one-piece Polyethylene and much more expensive.? Well, the package is small and you can take it with me on the plane to Malta, Thailand, the Canary Islands, or Cyprus. Of course, the Americans and the Japanese are in the lead here too...
